Enterprise Data
See how all the data fits together, not just a piece of it.
Enterprise level data takes a different approach. It looks at data from an organizational perspective, not a department or team perspective. Its like the head coach of the football team who is concerned with the whole operation vs. one of the coordinators who is only concerned with their side of the ball.
Taking an Enterprise perspective has great benefits which include improving data quality, removing data silos, integration and standards. It also helps to improve communication within the company.
The role most responsible for Enterprise Data is the Data Architect and that role's common Certification is the CDMP, which I have.
Data Certification
I have worked with data for close to 20 years and am a Certified Data Management Profession (CDPM) and follow the best practices for extracting value from data involving both technical skills and business acumen.
The Certification is based upon the DAMA-DMBOK (Data Management Body of Knowledge) which is a comprehensive guide that covers Governance, Ethics, Data Architecture, Data Modeling, Data Storage, Data Security, Data Integration, Document & Content Management, Master Data, Metadata, Data warehousing & Business Intelligence, Data Quality and Big Data.
As I work with data I aim to folow the principles outlined in the DAMA-DMBOK.
